Through the Erasmus+ project "Breaking the Filter – Media Literacy for a Global Perspective," students develop a deep understanding of media ethics, including key concepts such as fairness, accuracy, transparency, and respect for privacy.
They learn to identify ethical dilemmas in the media and understand the impact of biased, misleading, and sensationalist reporting on society. Working in international teams, participants create media content, including articles, podcasts, videos, blogs, and social media posts, that reflects ethical standards and promotes responsible media practices.
These materials serve as practical examples of ethical media creation and are shared across the partner schools and local communities to raise awareness about media literacy, online safety, and responsible journalism.
Students strengthen their critical thinking skills by analyzing real-world media cases and evaluating media content for bias, accuracy, credibility, and ethical standards. They become more informed, responsible, and confident digital citizens.
Romanian, Serbian, and Turkish students improve their intercultural communication skills by collaborating in international teams and exchanging perspectives on media ethics, misinformation, and the role of the media in different societies.
Teachers expand their pedagogical knowledge by exchanging innovative methods and teaching resources related to media literacy and digital education. They integrate these approaches into their classroom activities and promote responsible media use among their students.
The project encourages active participation through workshops, seminars, conferences, collaborative media production, and online cooperation. Participants continue to exchange ideas, share good practices, and develop educational resources throughout the project.
By the end of the project, the partnership creates a rich collection of educational materials and digital resources that supports media literacy, ethical media practices, digital citizenship, and intercultural cooperation, ensuring a lasting impact on students, teachers, schools, and the wider community.
Youtube channel created
The project's YouTube channel serves as a digital platform for sharing the collaborative work of students and teachers involved in the project.
The channel features a variety of educational content, including podcasts, interviews, awareness campaigns, short videos, and creative media projects produced by students from Romania, Serbia, and Türkiye. Through these materials, participants explore topics such as media literacy, digital citizenship, online safety, misinformation, disinformation, fake news, ethical journalism, and critical thinking.
The videos showcase the outcomes of international collaboration, promote intercultural dialogue, and encourage young people to become responsible and informed media consumers and creators. The channel also supports the dissemination of the project's results, making its educational resources accessible to schools, teachers, students, and the wider community.
By providing authentic student-created content, the YouTube channel contributes to raising awareness about the importance of media literacy and inspires others to develop the skills needed to navigate today's digital world safely, critically, and responsibly.

Developed collaboratively by the Erasmus+ project partners from Romania, Serbia, and Türkiye, the platform provides students with opportunities to learn through real-life examples, collaborative tasks, and project-based activities. Teachers can also access ready-to-use educational materials and teaching resources that support the integration of media literacy into everyday classroom practice.
The platform is continuously enriched with new lessons, digital resources, podcasts, videos, and learning materials created throughout the project. By making these resources freely accessible, it supports lifelong learning, encourages responsible media consumption and creation, and ensures the sustainability and long-term impact of the Erasmus+ project beyond its official duration.
Media Curriculum repository
In addition, a shared Media Curriculum repository (https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1zFzzwlMs3U4k8TJJS2PovoRXQI_bDYc9?usp=sharing ) offers partners and the wider educational community free access to the educational materials developed throughout the project.
The project eTwinning space
The project's eTwinning space (https://school-education.ec.europa.eu/en/etwinning/projects/breaking-filter-media-literacy-global-perspective ) supported communication, collaboration, joint learning activities and the active participation of students from all partner schools.
Interactive Bilingual Media Literacy Textbook
It is one of the main educational outputs of the Erasmus+ project "Breaking the Filter – Media Literacy for a Global Perspective." Developed collaboratively by all project partners from Romania, Serbia, and Türkiye, it represents the project's Structured Curriculum, providing a comprehensive educational resource that supports the teaching and learning of media literacy across all partner schools.
The textbook combines theoretical knowledge with practical learning activities, helping students understand key concepts such as media literacy, fake news, misinformation, disinformation, fact-checking, digital ethics, online safety, algorithms, and filter bubbles. It also includes interactive case studies, real-life examples, guided analysis, and digital resources that encourage students to evaluate information critically and become responsible media consumers and creators.
To ensure accessibility and wider use, the textbook was produced in bilingual editions. Each partner developed the English version together with the version in its national language: English–Romanian, English–Serbian, and English–Turkish. This multilingual approach supports language learning, promotes intercultural cooperation, and makes the educational content accessible to students and teachers in all participating countries.
Designed for both classroom and independent learning, the textbook can be used across different subjects, including English, Social Sciences, ICT, and Citizenship Education, as well as in extracurricular activities. Available in both digital and printed formats, it provides teachers with ready-to-use educational materials while offering students engaging opportunities to develop critical thinking, digital literacy, research skills, and intercultural competence.
By combining structured theoretical content with practical, inquiry-based activities, the textbook supports the implementation of the project's educational objectives and promotes responsible media consumption, ethical media creation, and informed digital citizenship. It reflects the Erasmus+ values of cooperation, inclusion, accessibility, and innovation, ensuring the sustainability and long-term impact of the project's results.
